Dispatch Desk: April 15-21

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Monday, April 15
Police investigated a breaking or entering of a vehicle at a South 16th Street location. No details were included in the report as felony cases are not available for public inspection at the Arkadelphia Police Department.

Police recovered stolen property at a W.P. Malone location. No details were included in the report as felony cases are not available for public inspection at the Arkadelphia Police Department.

Tuesday, April 16
3:08 p.m.
Officers responded to Walmart for a manager’s complaint of an armed, unruly customer upset over a clerk’s refusal to sell him beer. The sidearm remained holstered during his verbally aggressive behavior; police would hold onto the gun during their talk with the man. The police chief served the El Paso, Texas, man with the one-year ban which he had refused to accept from management, and informed him that he’d be arrested for criminal trespass if he showed back up on Walmart property. Police unloaded his .22 pistol before handing it back to him.

Friday, April 19
Police investigated a residential burglary at a Village Drive location. No details were included in the report as felony cases are not available for public inspection at the Arkadelphia Police Department.

5:10 p.m.
Officers responded to a report of a fight on Hunter Street. A responding officer noted that there had been a party at a residence but that some had disbursed upon police arrival. One person, apparently attempting to intervene in the reported altercation, suffered a broken foot as one person who fled the scene drove over it. He was treated at Baptist Health Medical Center for the injury.

Sunday, April 21
2:43 a.m.
Officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving a male and female at Carpenter Hill Apartments, 670 S. 6th St. Officers took accounts from both parties. The parties were separated without further incident.

5:50 p.m.
A No Contact Order violation was reported at a South Austin Street residence. The complainant was advised to take the information to the prosecutor’s office the following day.

10:40 p.m.
An officer was summoned to the 2300 block of Crawford Street, where a man reported that he confronted the driver of a suspicious vehicle that was parked in front of his residence. Equipped with a vehicle description and license plate number, the officer drove to the suspect’s neighborhood and back to the complainant’s address. Meanwhile, the suspect phoned police to say she had permission to be in the area and that the complainant was rude to her.

Sunday, April 14
Investigators recovered a 3-wheeler that had been reported stolen from a Vaden Road address. A citizen saw the ATV loaded onto a trailer full of scrap metal being hauled toward Gurdon, and followed the trailer. Police were given a description of the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. As a result, Coy Raybon, 39, of Hampton, was arrested on police charges of property theft and criminal trespass.

Tuesday, April 16
10:53 a.m.
Deputies responded to a Cedar Grove Road residence for a complaint of a sore-covered male subject on the kitchen floor. Multiple officers arrived given the subject’s apparent history with law enforcement. Officers’ attempts to converse with the man peacefully went south when one of the six policemen grabbed his wrist. The man then became combative as officers attempted to restrain him. One deputy was injured in the process, suffering scratches to his ear and neck from where the man dug his fingernails into him, as well as lacerations to his left fingers from where the man bit him during the struggle. The man was ultimately cuffed and restrained on a gurney for medical transport. The injured deputy was also treated at the hospital.

12:30 p.m.
A North Elm Street, Gurdon, woman reported being defrauded of more than $2,900 in six unauthorized debit card transactions.

Wednesday, April 17
3:05 p.m.
A deputy took a private property accident report at the Hostess plant.

Thursday, April 18
7:30 p.m.
A Gum Street man reported his neighbor had been driving a log truck through his property, creating ruts. The deputy spoke with the neighbor, who said he would be more careful going forward.

Saturday, April 20
3 a.m.
Broc Jeffery Estes, 19, of Hot Springs, was arrested for public intoxication near the Highway 8 intersection with Brushy Creek Road. The arresting deputy happened upon the scene of an accident with a vehicle, occupied by six people, in the ditch. The deputy learned from speaking to Estes that he had warrants from surrounding counties, and that he showed signs of intoxication. The report does not indicate whether Estes was the driver or a passenger.
