The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. Officers were called to Walnut Square Apartments, 1010 S. 16th St., for a complaint of someone kicking in a neighbor’s door and leaving in a white Jeep. 3:29 p.m.
Police were called to River Oaks Apartments, 3025 Twin Rivers Dr., for a report of a dog attacking another dog. The complainant showed officers wounds her dog received during the attack, and pointed to the vicious dog, still running at large. An officer then went to that dog owner’s upstairs apartment to get her to retrieve the canine. Afterward, as he approached the bottom of the staircase, the dog lunged at him, as well as charging at another officer and other residents outside. Police instructed its owner to get a handle on the dog or else they would shoot it. The owner, who showed signs of intoxication, reportedly showed more interest in arguing with officers and instructing them to shoot the dog than making an attempt to catch it. Police then instructed the neighbors to return indoors to minimize risk of someone being harmed. The dog’s owner, meanwhile, began yelling that the dog was not vicious as it continued to growl and charge at people, and calmly telling officers to shoot the dog if they so chose. The owner, Britney Tomica Young, 45, acted disoriented and unable to keep focus on her dog and began yelling nonsensically, unable to follow basic instructions. Young was placed in custody. Afterward, a friend of Young’s exited the apartment and retrieved the dog with little effort. In addition to the charge of public intoxication, Young was issued citations for violating various city ordinances pertaining to dogs and transported to the jail. Animal Control responded and took custody of the dog.

Officers responded to Shirey Apartments, 311 N. 10th St., for a complaint of four females attempting to break in to a vehicle. An officer arrived to observe the front and rear windows broken out of an SUV with all four doors ajar. The caller told police he went outside after hearing a commotion and saw the women tampering with his neighbor’s vehicle. The ladies fled when he told them he was calling police. The vehicle’s owner led police to the suspect’s residence on Clinton Street, where they located glass consistent with the vehicle’s windows and made contact with the suspect. Contact was made with a resident there who put the blame on a male and denied having been to the 10th Street residence. The victim was advised on the process to obtain a No Contact Order.
5:25 p.m.
Police were summoned to Circle K, 3005 W. Pine St., for a report of two male shoplifters in the bathroom; their vehicle was parked near a fuel pump. Contact was made with one suspect outside, and the other suspect inside who initially gave officers a false name but did provide two cans of Twisted Tea from his pants. Police also discovered a pack of Mike’s Hard Lemonade Further that had reportedly been stolen. Further questioning of the suspect outside helped identify the suspect inside as Michael Alvin Buckley Jr., 20. A check of Buckley’s information through a crime information center revealed that he had multiple warrants in Arkadelphia and Clark County; he was transported to the jail for the warrants and additional charges of property theft and obstructing governmental operations. The stolen items were returned to the gas station clerk. With no hard evidence that the other suspect had stolen items from the store, he was released at the scene.
