Whelen Springs under boil order

Effective 9:02 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, portions of the Whelen Springs Water Department service area was placed under a boil order by the Arkansas Department of Health.

The area impacted is for customers on Kansas Road, Vaden Road and Pig Loop.

Customers in that area should boil their tap water for 3-5 minutes prior to using it. Store the cooled, boiled water in a clean, closed container.

The boil order is due to a lightning strike.

Until the boil order is lifted, avoid using tap water for drinking, making ice or mixing baby formula. Do not wash fruits and vegetables with the tap water, and do not make coffee using the tap water. Use bottled or boiled water for brushing teeth.
