The Arkadelphia Board of Directors will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, in the Town Hall Boardroom for the first of two September meetings. Here’s a glance at the agenda for the upcoming meeting:
Directors will hear an update from Bobbi Partain of the Arkadelphia Housing Authority’s management team. Partain has requested to provide an update on the Housing Authority’s activities.
The board is set to confirm the appointment of Andrea Wagner as the city clerk. Wagner, of Canyon, Texas, previously worked at West Texas A&M University. Her work with the City of Arkadelphia is set to begin on Sept. 11. Her employment requires city board confirmation.
Directors will also consider the addition of a content management system from Tyler Technologies, an accounting software company the board previously entered into a contract with. The CMS being considered pairs with the accounting system, a memo to directors states, and will “help aid in the preservation of documents, in the transparency of government with the public with seamless integration.” Cost for setup is a one-time fee of $15,050, followed by an annual fee of $10,978.
On the agenda is the consideration of a purchase agreement with Oskaloosa, Iowa-based Musco to retrofit the four high lights at Pine Street and Interstate 30, making the 24 existing lamps LED. The cost, which directors previously approved in mid-year budget adjustments, is $109,500.
Directors will consider a resolution allowing the purchase of a 2018 Mack roll-off truck for from Union County for the city’s sanitation department. City officials expect the truck, which replaces a 2002 model that “exceeded its useful life some 5 years ago”, to serve Arkadelphia for a decade. Cost for the used Union County truck is $110,000; the board appropriated $150,000 for the purchase in this year’s budget.
Finally, the city board will consider a resolution for official intent to issue bonds for water and sewer upgrades. The principal amount of the bond is $10,650,000.
