Clark County’s unemployment rate for August 2024, not seasonally adjusted, is at 5%, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services.
According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 8,814 persons with 8,377 employed and 437 unemployed in August. This compares to July’s labor force of 8,585 with 8,078 employed and 507 unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Clark County fell nine-tenths of a percentage point from 5.9% in July. Clark County continued to have the highest jobless rate among each of its six neighboring counties.
Statewide, Arkansas’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate was at 3.3% in August; no change from July. The U.S. jobless rate is at 4.1% in September.

The unemployment rate for Dallas County (Fordyce) is at 4% in August, down from 4.5% in July. Dallas County reports a labor force of 2,703.
The unemployment rate for Hot Spring County (Malvern) is at 3.7% in August, down from 4.4% the previous month. Hot Spring County reports a labor force of 13,911.
The unemployment rate for Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) is at 4.6% in August, down from 5.5% in July. Montgomery County reports a labor force of 2,993.
The unemployment rate for Nevada County (Prescott) is at 3.8% in August, down from 4.9% the previous month. Nevada County reports a labor force of 3,181.
The unemployment rate for Ouachita County (Camden) is at 4.2% in August, down from 4.7% in July. Ouachita County reports a labor force of 9,641.
The unemployment rate for Pike County (Murfreesboro) is at 3.9% in August, down from 4.6% in July. Pike County reports a labor force of 4,098.
