Two additional candidates have penned letters of interest for the top spot at Arkadelphia Public Schools.

Since the Arkadelphia Board of Education began interviewing superintendent candidates in recent days, Rob Barnwell and R. Wayne Fawcett have submitted applications to the school district.

Barnwell, of Jefferson, Texas, is currently the superintendent of Jefferson Independent School District, a position he has held since 2013. He was in administrative roles at two other Texas schools since 1999, and has been an educator since 1989.

Fawcett, of Fort Smith, has been superintendent of Paris School District since 2012. Prior to that he led Drew Central for four years and has been in administration since 1991.

The addition of Barnwell and Fawcett brings the total pool of candidates to 23 including Nikki Thomas, who has not submitted a resume but has been interviewed.

To date, the school board has interviewed Lloyd Jackson, Thomas, Marvin Burton and Ken Vaughn.
