Dispatch Desk: Walmart customer reunited with $400 she dropped in parking lot

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed April 6-12, 2026, at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Arrested or cited individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names, so don’t even think about asking. 

Arkadelphia Police Department

Monday, April 6

2:15 p.m.
An officer took a delayed report of domestic violence involving a male suspect and female victim. 

6 p.m.
The owner of Country Car Wash, 2502 Country Club Road, reported a customer hauling a tractor, which on a trailer was too tall for the bay, caused damage to a ceiling light fixture. The March 30 incident was caught on surveillance camera, which showed the driver take a photo of the business contact information, but to date had not made contact with him.

Tuesday, April 7

10 a.m.
An officer took a delayed report from a Michigan traveler whose RV air-conditioner was damaged when, stopping off in Arkadelphia from Interstate 30, he drove beneath the overhang at Badger Lane and W.P. Malone Drive. The reporting officer inspected the overhang for a height marker, finding that the height advisory was not legible from the direction the traveler was driving.

10:50 a.m.
A Walmart customer reported losing an envelope containing $400 cash in the parking lot. The next day the caller advised that a Walmart employee had located the money, which was returned to her.

Felony incident still under investigation: Financial identity fraud, 500 block of Main Street

10:07 p.m.
Patrolling Pine Street, an officer observed a driver make a turn without signaling, and conducted a traffic stop near 12th and Caddo streets. The driver, identified as George Edward Dixon, 62, of Arkadelphia, exhibited signs of intoxication. Failing a series of field sobriety tests, Dixon was arrested for DWI-2nd. 

Wednesday, April 8

4:44 p.m.
Police were summoned to Walmart for a complaint of a shoplifter who was detained after stealing alcohol and deli foods while shopping for a customer as a Spark driver. The suspect, Jayna Christine Shaffer, 31, was arrested for theft of property.

Thursday, April 9

Noon
A Malvern home health nurse reported she was bitten on the calf by a dog during a home visit to a Center Street residence. The bite did not break skin but did cause a bruise. A report was generated for her employer’s records.

Friday, April 10

4:48 p.m.
An officer took a report from Walmart of a known shoplifter who, on two recent occasions, stole numerous cases of beer and some groceries. The total value of the loss was estimated to be $432. 

Saturday, April 11

A Caddo Street woman reported a juvenile threw a rock through her sliding glass door. The incident, which happened in January or February, was captured on surveillance camera from a nearby business, enabling the complainant to identify the young perpetrator. She was advised a report would be on file should she want to pursue charges.

Sunday, April 12

12:54 p.m.
Officers were called to a South 21st Street residence for a complaint of a trespasser honking their car horn and ringing the doorbell. Upon arrival the suspect was gone.

Saturday, April 11

5:53 p.m.
A Mt. Morriah Road man reported someone drove a vehicle through the gate separating his yard from a neighbor’s property. A horse trailer fender was also damaged. The caller phoned again later after hearing from a neighbor who witnessed an ambulance, accompanied by a white SUV, respond to a medical emergency there; the SUV likely caused the damages.
