Arkansas State Police records show that two people were killed on highways in South Arkansas in recent days.
On Wednesday, Oct. 22, a Dierks driver was killed in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on US Highway 70 at Kirby.
A preliminary fatal crash summary says Alex Dean Faulkner, 27, was eastbound in a 2008 Chevrolet Impala when he attempted to pass a vehicle and struck a westbound Kenworth. Faulkner was killed in the collision, and his body was taken to Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Investigating State Trooper Sgt. Bo Hayes noted clear skies and dry roads at the time of the collision, recorded as 9:15 a.m.
One person was killed early Friday morning in Hot Spring County at an Interstate 30 exit ramp.
A 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 was traveling eastbound and exited the interstate at the 99 mile marker at Rockport. The pickup struck a Volvo 18-wheeler parked on the shoulder of the exit.
The passenger of the Dodge, 37-year-old Larry Marshall Jr., of Hot Springs, was killed in the collision. The driver, Kolton Blees, 30, of Pearcy, was injured and taken to CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs.
Both weather and road conditions were clear when the crash occurred, at 6:31 a.m. on Oct. 24, according to State Trooper Trey McAnear.
