Officers responded to a report of a possible fight in the gravel lot north of the post office. Contact was made with three males. As one officer arrived, one of the men — later identified as Carter Rian Hadnot, 19, of Royse City, Texas — started walking away, headed west on Crittenden Street, ignoring orders to stop and then leading Officer Chuck Fitzsimmons on a foot chase across several parking lots in a northeasterly direction. Fitzsimmons lost sight of Hadnot as he rounded Southern Bancorp headed north on 6th Street. Officer Randy Windham picked up the pursuit in his patrol vehicle, also unable to locate Hadnot’s direction of travel where visual contact was lost. Fitzsimmons returned to the initial scene where Cpl. Dewayne Ward was out with the other two subjects. One of them, 20-year-old Keyondre Jaquintin Nelson Henderson, also of Royse City, began walking away and ignoring police instructions to halt. Henderson and Ward went to the ground, then Henderson led Fitzsimmons on another foot pursuit, north across the Honeycomb parking lot. Windham intercepted the chase and took Henderson into custody behind the Beehive on 7th Street. Henderson was charged with resisting arrest, fleeing on foot and disorderly conduct, as well as being held on felony warrants originating in Texas. The report doesn’t indicate how Hadnot was taken into custody but notes that he was arrested on charges of public intoxication.

The suspect, identified as Valeto Juan Hendrix Jr., 18, was detained during the investigation. The complainant told police she had gone outside to her vehicle when she observed Hendrix approach her. She hurried inside and locked the door behind her, and moments later Hendrix allegedly attempted to open the door. The homeowner activated her doorbell camera, and Hendrix turned and walked away. She provided video footage showing Hendrix enter the garage. When police began to question Hendrix, he allegedly began kicking and screaming in the back of the patrol car, becoming increasingly aggressive and non-compliant. He was arrested for criminal trespass and disorderly conduct and taken to the jail.
