The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Responding to a parking lot accident at Burger King’s drive-thru, officers made contact with Jerry Todd Morris, 48, of Maumelle, and, smelling the odor of intoxicants and observing a half-full fifth of vodka in the passenger floorboard, attempted a series of field sobriety tests. Given Morris’s unsteadiness, the officer determined the tests wouldn’t be safe. Morris was transported to the county jail on charges of DWI-1st and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. The other driver didn’t pursue a private property accident report because the only damage to her car was a bent license plate cover from where Morris backed into her vehicle.

Police and firemen responded to a possible fire at Pine Court Apartments, 120 N. 20th St. Contact was first made with Housing Authority maintenance, who advised that the apartment should be vacant as the tenant had been evicted and moved out earlier in the day. Though no flames were visible when responders entered, the source of smoke was determined to be some form of meat in a skillet on the stove that had been left on. A neighbor said no one had been in the apartment since noon, when the previous tenant left. The fire marshal conducted an arson investigation and determined the fire was accidental in origin.
