Jobless rate at 5.4% in Clark County

Clark County’s unemployment rate for July 2026, not seasonally adjusted, was at 5.4%, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services.

According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 9,628 persons with 9,111 employed and 517 unemployed. The unemployment rate rose one-tenths of a percentage point since June’s report of 5.3%. The labor force fell by 272 persons from 9,900. Clark County held the second-highest unemployment rate of its neighboring counties, second to Nevada County.

The unemployment rate for the neighboring counties surveyed from June to July are listed with their county seat in parentheses: i.e., Clark County (Arkadelphia):

Hot Spring County (Malvern) reported 4.7% of its 13,482 available workers were without jobs — no percentage change.

Dallas County (Fordyce) reported 4.7% of its 2,809 available workers were without jobs, compared to 4.5% in June.

Ouachita County (Camden) reported 5.1% of its 8,989 available workers were without jobs, compared to 4.7% in June.

Nevada County (Prescott) reported 6.8% of its 2,618 available workers were without jobs, compared to 6.5% in June.

Pike County (Murfreesboro) reported 5% of its 4,074 available workers were without jobs, compared to 4.6% in June.

Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) reported 5% of its 3,198 available workers were without jobs, compared to 4.8% in June.

Statewide, Arkansas’ seasonally adjusted jobless rate was at 4% in July, a slight decrease from the 4.1% reported in June. There were more than 1.45 million available workers in Arkansas. Across the U.S., 7 million of the nation’s 169 million available workers, or 4.1% of the workforce, were jobless in August.
