Severe weather expected Easter Sunday

A powerful compact storm system is expected to pass just north and west of the state during the afternoon into the nighttime hours on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Large hail, damaging winds, and even tornadoes will be possible during the afternoon and evening, said the National Weather Service in Little Rock.

Northern Arkansas has a slightly better probability of severe weather due to the location of the cold front and warm front interface in conjunction with the passing upper level disturbance.

Rain chances will increase across northwestern Arkansas later Friday afternoon and evening with rain lingering across portions of the state on and off through Monday morning. Northwest Arkansas could pick up several inches of rainfall with a general half inch to one inch common elsewhere. Much less rainfall is expected across central to southeast sections of the state.

The Arkadelphia forecast calls for partly sunny skies Friday, with a high near 86. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Tonight, expect increasing clouds, with a low around 64. South wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

On Saturday there will be a 20% chance of showers after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m. Saturday, then a chance of showers between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. South southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

On Sunday there will be a chance of rain before 10 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. South southeast wind 5-10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Showers will be likely and possibly a thunderstorm Sunday night before 1 a.m., then a chance of rain after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. South southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

On Monday there is a 20% chance of rain before 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph.
