Police nab 6 for burglarizing Arkadelphia school

Six people are facing felony charges in Arkadelphia after they allegedly broke into a former primary school campus.

On Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, officials with the Arkadelphia Public School District reported to the Arkadelphia Police Department that Perritt Primary School had been broken into.

The school, located on Walnut Street, has been closed since the end of the previous school year and has since been boarded up to prevent vandalism. Students in grades K-4 are now housed at the newly constructed Peake Elementary School, on Pine Street.

According to Arkadelphia Police Chief Jason “Shorty” Jackson, investigators were able to review surveillance video to identify seven suspects — including one unnamed juvenile — they say are responsible for breaking into the vacant school on two different occasions last week.

The chief said vandalism caused during the incidents resulted in property damage that is still being calculated before a complete investigation and probable cause affidavits are submitted to the prosecutor’s office.

The six adult suspects are:

De’Angelo Buckley, 18
(A jail booking photo was not available at the time of this report.)

Christian Moore, 18

Amadre Lock, 18

Joshua Brim, 18

Kayla Knox, 18

Xavier Heyward, 18

Each suspect faces two counts of commercial burglary, according to booking records at the Clark County Detention Center. Brim and Knox were held on additional police charges of criminal mischief. Formal charges are pending and will be determined by 9E Prosecutor Dan Turner.
