Conditions for burning outdoors are poor for much of South Arkansas and parts of the Delta, as 33 counties are listed as having “moderate” wildfire danger, according to a map updated Monday, Aug. 12, by the Arkansas Forestry Division.
The moderate threat of wildfire danger stretches from the state’s western border to its eastern border and includes south-central Arkansas and the Delta as far north as Cross and Crittenden counties. Extreme Southwest Arkansas — Hempstead, Nevada, Ouachita, Miller, Lafayette, Columbia and Union counties — remains under “low” hazards for wildfire danger.
Montgomery County is under a burn ban. County judges issue burn bans.
