Showers and thunderstorms across Arkansas will increase in coverage on Thursday, with some severe storms possible on Friday as well, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.
There is a slight risk for severe weather for most of the state. Some storms may become strong to severe, with the primary hazards being large hail and damaging winds. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out.
The best chance for severe thunderstorms Friday will be over the southern half of the state. The forecast calls for widespread 1-2 inches of total rainfall through early Saturday morning.
Cooler and drier air will follow this weekend. Sunshine will greet Arkadelphia skies on Saturday with a high approaching 60. Lows that night will drop to around 34.
After similar temperatures Sunday, warmer air will bring Monday and Tuesday’s highs to near 70.
The next chance for rainfall comes Tuesday evening and into Wednesday.
