Dispatch Desk: Monday, Nov. 27

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Monday, Nov. 20
7:14 a.m.
A woman at Carpenter Hill Apartments, 670 S. 6th St., reported her ex-boyfriend took her vehicle, a black 2006 Dodge Durango, without her permission. She added that he was likely headed toward Sparkman.

Police investigated a complaint of breaking our entering at Arkadelphia Self Storage.

Tuesday, Nov. 21
12:05 a.m.
Officers investigated a residential burglary at the 1200 block of Richardson Street. The complainant’s friend said he was driving by when he saw two masked, black-clad individuals run from the carport and across a Henderson parking lot. An Evans Street neighbor told an officer that she, too, had seen the subjects the night prior. 

8:41 a.m.
A Cypress Road woman reported her neighbor’s cat bit her while she was tending her flower bed. She said the cat had approached her and, initially weaving itself in and out of her legs, bit her on the back of the arm when she reached down to the flowers. An officer made contact with the cat’s owner and advised him to keep his felines indoors.

Thanksgiving Day
7:15 a.m.
Officers responded to a welfare concern at Southview Apartments, 650 S. 6th St.

Police assisted another agency with a warrant at Crawford and Clark streets.

1:02 p.m.
Renethea Moore, 59, was arrested at Southview Apartments for five counts of communicating a false alarm. Officers had been dispatched to non-urgent 911 calls at the residence five times since 6 a.m. The final time, Moore was agitated and not speaking in complete sentences, then became argumentative and began swearing at officers. Advised not to phone 911 unless there was an emergency, Moore said she’d call 911 whenever she wanted and continued arguing with police before she was taken into custody.

Black Friday
8:40 a.m.
A man who suffered a dog attack at an apartment complex at 2551 Country Club Road was treated at the hospital for bites to his wrist and leg. Officers spoke with the dog’s owner, who said he dropped its leash while closing the door to his apartment. Animal control was to be advised of the situation for follow-up.

12:05 p.m.
Theft of a license plate was reported at Park Hill Baptist Church, 3333 Hollywood Road, where the complainant’s vehicle had been parked to sell.

2:47 p.m.
A caller summoned an officer to a South 24th Street residence to check on the welfare of a starving dog penned outside. Contact was later made with the owner, who said a recent stroke prevented him from caring for the animal. The dog was surrendered to the city animal shelter.

Police investigated a felony property theft at Sylvia Street.

Police investigated a report of forgery at the 1400 block of Pine Street.

Police investigated a report of breaking or entering at the 1000 block of North 26th Street.

Saturday, Nov. 25
8:39 a.m.
A 20th Street woman reported a known male fraudulently used her debit card to make a $400 ATM withdrawal.

10:52 a.m.
Police responded to a welfare concern at Pine Court Apartments, 120 N. 20th St.

Sunday, Nov. 26
11:05 a.m.
Officers responded to Pine Court Apartments to investigate a report of a man outside armed with a knife. Upon locating the man, police ordered him to drop the weapon, to which he complied. Learning that he had not made threats to anyone with the knife, police bid the suspect adieu and spoke with the female complainant, who advised she would soon be seeking medical treatment for him.

Monday, Nov. 27
1:09 a.m.
A South 10th Street person with schizophrenia told an officer he had been struck in the mouth by a black male known to him as “Curtis.” Officers observed the area of his face where he said he was struck but found no evidence of an attack.

Thanksgiving Day
5:42 p.m.
A Sunny Oak Drive, Gurdon, man reported a known male shot and killed his dog on a hunting lease adjacent to his property. Having heard gunfire and a whimper shortly after letting his dog out, the owner drove to the source of the gunshot. The hunter denied killing the dog. The owner soon located a blood trail and further demanded the hunter surrender the canine. The hunter would later show up to the owner’s home with the deceased dog in a trash bag. A deputy advised the dog’s owner that he would have to go to the prosecutor’s office to file charges.
