No matter where you are in the Arkadelphia area on July 4, you’ll be able to find fun and a community fireworks display in celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The Arkadelphia Aquatic Park is promising a full day of fun activities, contests and games at the city pool. An activity will commence every hour from noon until 5 p.m., with trivia contests throughout the day. Activities include a watermelon race, frozen T-shirt contest, hot dog eating contest/saltine challenge, a diving competition, a dad’s-only biggest splash contest, and a slide race. CLICK HERE for the full schedule.
Ahead of the holiday, DeGray Lake Resort State Park is holding daily activities geared at campers, although there may be room to accommodate last-minute park visitors. Part of the July 3 family fun includes a sunset cruise or a kayak and snorkel adventure. Check out the state park’s website for details and more activities.
Fireworks displays will be heard across the area at around dusk. Here’s a look at some community wide displays we’re aware of:
The DeGray Lake fireworks show, “Dazzle at DeGray,” will begin at full dark and will be shot from the Lakeview area. This show is sponsored by the City of Caddo Valley and Iron Mountain Lodge and Marina with the assistance of all community donations. CLICK HERE to donate.
Suttle Ridge at DeGray, 200 Cub Trail, is hosting the third annual Celebration on The Ridge beginning at 7 p.m., with fireworks at dusk. There will be food vendors, yard games, music and face painting fun for the whole family.
If you’re in the southern part of the county, head over to the Gurdon City Park for family fun and fireworks at the Stars, Stripes and Summer Nights events. Starting at 4 p.m. there will be an array of activities geared for kids, as well as food trucks and drink stands. A fireworks show begins at dark.
If you’re in the Amity area, head over to the Alpine Community Center at 6 p.m. for a barbecue plate for $5 a plate. An additional $5 gets you a raffle ticket for a chance to win a Blackstone grill and other door prizes. A fireworks display starts at dark.
