Clark County sees slight uptick in jobless rate

Clark County’s unemployment rate (not seasonally adjusted) is at 3.6% for May 2023, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released this month by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services. This is up from 3.2% in April.

According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 8,521 persons with 8,217 employed and 304 unemployed in May. This compares to April’s labor force of 8,657 with 8,382 employed and 275 unemployed.

Of the six neighboring Southwest Arkansas counties surveyed, two showed improvements, one had a slight uptick in jobless rates and three showed no change from April to May.

The unemployment rate for Dallas County (Fordyce) is at 3.2% for May, down slightly from 3.3% in April. Dallas County reports a labor force of 2,662.

The unemployment rate for Hot Spring County (Malvern) is at 2.6% for May, no change since April. Hot Spring County reports a labor force of 13,930.

The unemployment rate for Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) is at 3.8% for May, up slightly from 3.6% in April. Montgomery County reports a labor force of 2,902.

The unemployment rate for Nevada County (Prescott) is at 2.5% for May, no change since April. Nevada County reports a labor force of 3,434.

The unemployment rate for Ouachita County (Camden) is at 3.1% for May, no change since April. Ouachita County reports a labor force of 9,729.

The unemployment rate for Pike County (Murfreesboro) is at 2.6% for May, down slightly from 2.7% reported in April. Pike County reports a labor force of 4,031.
