Building Permits: NAPA, other commercial properties coming down soon for Arkadelphia Bypass

The City of Arkadelphia issued 15 building permits with an estimated construction value of $736,325 for the month of January 2024.

Records were obtained from the city’s Building Department under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act and include valuations of work except where omitted from reports. Here’s a rundown of permits issued in January 2024:

In preparation for work on the Arkadelphia Bypass project, the Arkansas State Highway Commission contracted McGeorge Contracting Co. Inc. (Pine Bluff) to demolish four properties for a cost of $9,000 apiece: 3 commercial storage unit buildings at Security Warehouse Mini Storage, 725 S. 7th St.; Wade’s Cabinets, 921 Highway 67 South; 922 Main St. (former location of The Gossip Shop); and 922 Clinton St. (NAPA Auto Parts). While there was no building permit on file, a crew recently removed the covered portion of the former Stewart Auto Sales, located on the southeast corner of 10th and Caddo streets.

Hardman Lumber Company hired Seale Construction (Sparkman) to pour 29,000-SF of concrete slab and dirt work at its property at 3004 Pine St. at a cost of $253,000.

The Camden-based Lindsey Pine Plaza hired Powerhouse Retail Services (Texas) to demolish and remodel the pharmacy area of Brookshire’s for an estimated cost of $30,614.

Third Street Baptist Church, 224 Crawford St., hired Rogers Construction, Inc., for a roofing job for an estimated cost of $116,000.

David Goodman d/b/a Goodman Properties LLC hired Scott Nelson Construction to remodel a 2,800-SF building at 105 S. 8th St. for an estimated cost of $240,000. In a separate filing, Scott Nelson Construction was hired to demolish 2,800-SF of interior and porch along the exterior frontage at that address.

The Mountain Home-based Paduva LLC hired a Keller, Texas-based contractor to repair the south wall of an 80-SF accessory building at 1318 Pine St. for an estimated cost of $5,000.
