Participants this week wrapped up a four-week healthy cooking course at the Arkadelphia Community Family Enrichment Center. Hosted by Baptist Health’s Community Outreach, the course focused on shopping and cooking healthy foods on a budget.

Each class prepares and easy and tasty kid-friendly recipe, and participants take home a fresh bag of groceries to try the recipe at home.

Another Cooking with Community Outreach class will begin June 7, with subsequent classes held each Wednesday from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Enrichment Center, located at 301 N. 23rd St. To sign up for the next class call 870-246-5675.

Topics of the tour include planning kid-friendly meals, working with picky eaters, identifying whole grains, reading food labels and comparing unit prices, among other ideas.

Participants of the Grocery Store Tours receive a $50 Walmart gift card following the tour.

Upcoming tour dates are Thursday, June 1, and Friday, June 9, at Arkadelphia Walmart. Tours are given in the morning, afternoon and evening. Tours are limited to parents with children under 18.
