A CALL to action: Lemonade Love benefits foster children in Clark County

The Call of Clark County is hoping to squeeze what it can from the summer months in hopes of raising awareness about and gaining support for foster care.

Throughout June and July, children wanting to get involved a worthy cause can sign up before setting out to start their own business with a lemonade stand. The goal behind “Lemonade Love” is for children to “stand” up for foster care, said Jillian Battaglia, coordinator of The CALL of Clark County.

“It’s a way for any child in the community to get involved,” Battaglia said. “It’s a fun service project for your kids to do this summer.”

Participants hosting a lemonade stand have the option of going it alone, with a sibling or friend, or even joining forces with peers. “It can be as big or little as the child wants to make it, or they can have a group of kids host a stand at church,” Battaglia said.

The CALL will provide participating hosts with signage noting the stand is part of “Lemonade Love.” All the hosting child has to do is provide the lemonade and any other delectable they wish to include, such as baked goods.

The CALL will award prizes to hosts with the most creative lemonade stand, and for the host that raises the most money. All proceeds benefit The CALL of Clark County.

There are open slots on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays during the two months of Lemonade Love.

There is an online signup sheet with detailed instructions for anyone wanting to sign up. For more information, contact Battaglia at 501-353-3191.
