Floyd “Jackie” Overton of Gurdon, AR, passed away on April 16, 2023.

Jackie was born on May 12, 1943, to Lewis and Dwight Overton in Princeton, AR. After Jackie graduated from Gurdon high school in 1960, he went on to study business administration at Henderson.

After graduating college, he spent the majority of his career in the hardwood lumber industry in Beirne, AR.

Jackie met Laura Lee Garrett and married in January 28, 1965. Jackie and Laura went on to have 2 children, Sarah and Jeff (Leslie).

In 2005 Jackie retired and spent his time enjoying hunting, fishing, Razorbacks and Cowboys football, and family.

Jackie was predeceased by his mother and father, brother, sister, and wife. He is survived by his two children, five grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Herndon Fuqua Funeral Home in Gurdon from 6-8pm on Tuesday, April 18. Graveside Service will be at 10am, on Wednesday April 19, with Bro. Mike Proctor officiating at Smyrna Cemetery in Okolona, AR under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church, in Gurdon, AR..
