JOPLIN, Missouri — In the last regular season tournament of the 2022-23 campaign, the No. 6 Henderson State women’s golf program won its fourth consecutive event with a 54-hole score of 52-over 916 at the Dr. Virginia Laas Invitational. The Reddies close out the year leading the entire field in each of its last eight competitive rounds of golf.
In addition to Henderson taking the top spot at the Par 72, 6066-yard Eagle Creek Golf Club, Jinna Boonbumroongusk won her first event of the season in just her first year with the program after carding a 1-over 217 across three rounds. The University of Nebraska-Omaha transfer has finished seventh or better in seven of her last eight tournaments.
The Bangkok, Thailand, native birdied her final three holes on the final day to finish her last round with an even-par 72 as she defeated the tournament’s runner-up by nine strokes. Despite posting an eagle-less round for the first time in the two-day event, Boonbumroongsuk saw a round-high five birdies in her final 18 holes.
Gracen Blount climbed five spots on the individual leaderboard with a final round, 1-over 73 to finish with a 14-over 230 for a tie at fifth. The defending Central Region Player of the Year birdied her final hole to crack the Top-5.
Lily Nelson used a 6-over 78 on the last day to finish in a tie for eighth with a 16-over 232. In her first year of collegiate golf, Nelson has now finished eighth or better in each of her last four events, including a personal best third-place finish at the Emerald Coast Classic last month.
Allie Bianchi (22-over 238) and Daphney Tilton (29-over 245) finished out the Reddie golfers with a 16th and 29th place finish, respectively.
With the regular season now completed, No. 6 Henderson State will now fully move its attention to capturing its third consecutive GAC crown at the 2023 GAC Championships held at Hot Springs Country Club Apr. 23-25.
