A two-vehicle accident in Caddo Valley on March 27 claimed the life of a Tennessee woman and left two locals injured.

The accident happened at 3:20 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023, in front of O’Keefe’s Fish Net restaurant. According to an Arkansas State Police fatal crash summary released this week, a Toyota Sienna pulled out onto state Highway 7 from highway 283 and failed to see a northbound Dodge Caravan approaching.

The Caravan struck the rear bumper of the Sienna, sending the latter rotating 180 degrees before it came to a rest in the right north lane. The Caravan continued for about 100 feet before it came to a rest in the west ditch.

A passenger in the Sienna, 83-year-old Eilene Lech, of Witchwell, Tenn., was transported to St. Vincent hospital in Hot Springs. She would later succumb to injuries suffered in the crash, on March 29.

Injured in the accident were Ruthea Wolf, 53, of Bismarck, who was driving the Sienna, as well as Lacey Herring, 30, of Glenwood, who was driving the Caravan.

The accident happened under clear skies and on dry road conditions, according to Cpl. Chris Harper who investigated the crash.
