A head-on interstate crash Monday morning in Arkadelphia proved fatal for one person and a box truck driver to an area hospital.
At about 8:46 a.m. on July 6, 82-year-old William M. Warnick, of Glenwood, was traveling the wrong direction on Interstate 30 when, near the 74 westbound mile-marker, his 2005 Buick Terraza struck a shipping vehicle, a 2026 Ford Transit, head on, according to a preliminary fatal crash summary posted by Arkansas State Police. The trailer of an 18-wheeler then struck the rear of Warnick’s minivan.
Warnick perished as a result of the crash. His body was taken to the Garland County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the FedEx vehicle, Dexter Christian, 56, of Conyers, Georgia, was med-flighted from the scene to CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs for injuries not detailed in the report.
Investigating State Trooper John Crow noted clear weather and dry roads at the time of the collision.
