
Arkadelphia resident Matt Johnson on Monday officially announced his candidacy for the Arkadelphia School Board Zone 1 in the upcoming election.
A seven-year veteran of the United States Air Force, Johnson completed his bachelor’s degree in administration while serving abroad and is employed by Anthony Timberlands in yellow pine corporate sales.
As President of the Arkadelphia Baseball Commission for the past 10 years Johnson has grown the program into one of the best local leagues in the state. He also volunteers on the Arkadelphia Badger Foundation and is a member of the Arkadelphia Planning Commission.
“Arkadelphia has been very good to me,” Johnson said, “My wife and I love raising our family here. If elected, I will work hard for the future of Arkadelphia schools, listening to all of your concerns and doing what’s right for every citizen in our community.”
Johnson, with his wife Ranada have three sons: Gunner, who is currently enrolled at Louisiana Tech University, Tucker, a senior at Arkadelphia High School, and Dekker, who is a first-grader at Perritt Primary School. The family attends Trinity Temple Assembly of God.
