Water features at Arkadelphia Aquatic Park temporarily down for repairs

City officials are providing an update on repairs to the play structure water features at the Arkadelphia Aquatic Park.

During the weekend of May 30, the impeller in the pump that serves the play structure failed, rendering the water features inoperable. Pool staff immediately began working with a company in Ohio to obtain a replacement impeller, with the goal of completing repairs before the July 4 holiday weekend. Unfortunately, the replacement part did not arrive as expected, delaying the repair.

“We are disappointed that the play structure was not operational for the holiday weekend,” City Manager Gary Brinkley said. “We understand this has been frustrating for many residents and visitors. Our staff has worked diligently to resolve the issue and is committed to getting the play structure back in operation as quickly as possible.”

Pool staff now expects the replacement impeller to arrive during the week of July 20. If the part arrives as anticipated and installation is completed successfully, the city hopes to have the play structure operational by the weekend of July 24.

The remainder of the Arkadelphia Aquatic Park, including the main pool and other amenities, will continue to operate on its normal schedule through the end of the season.

The city will continue to provide updates as they become available. Residents and visitors with questions about the Arkadelphia Aquatic Park may contact the park at 870-246-2747.
