Latest Workforce Services report says 9,221 working in Clark County

Clark County’s unemployment rate for January 2026, not seasonally adjusted, was at 5.4%, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released this week by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services. According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 9,744 persons with 9,221 employed and 523 unemployed. The unemployment rate rose by nine-tenths of a percentage point from the December report of 4.5%. Since the last report, the labor force fell by 256 from an even 10,000 persons. The latest statistics are on par for the same period in 2025, when Clark County reported an unemployment rate of 4.5%…

Arkansas Advocate: Federal judge blocks reworked state law restricting minors’ social media 

By ANTOINETTE GRAJEDA | Arkansas Advocate A federal judge has temporarily blocked an Arkansas law set to take effect Tuesday that would have restricted minors’ social media access.  Tech industry trade group NetChoice in January filed a lawsuit challenging Act 900 of 2025, which sought to amend a 2023 law found to be unconstitutional.  The earlier law and the reworked version would have required age verification to create new social media accounts. A federal judge declared the 2023 law unconstitutional and permanently blocked it last year.  In Monday’s 24-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Timothy Brooks said NetChoice was likely to succeed on its vagueness challenge…

Stateline: Many states don’t report losses from data center tax breaks, study says

By KEVIN HARDY | Stateline Though public scrutiny of data centers is growing, 14 states do not disclose how much revenue they lose to data center tax breaks. That’s according to a new report from Good Jobs First, a watchdog group that focuses on economic development incentives. The lack of disclosure comes as other states record mounting losses in tax revenue to data center subsidies.
