Clark County’s unemployment rate for May 2026, not seasonally adjusted, was at 4.1%, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released this week by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services.
According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 9,979 persons with 9,572 employed and 407 unemployed. The unemployment rate rose five-tenths of a percentage point from the April report of 3.6%. Since the last report, the labor force grew by 86 persons from 9,893.
For the same period in 2025, Clark County reported 4.2% of its 9,656-person labor force were without jobs.
Statewide, Arkansas’ seasonally adjusted jobless rate was at 4.2% in May, a slight decrease from the 4.3% reported in April. There were more than 1.45 million workers available in Arkansas. Across the U.S., in June, 4.2% of the nation’s 169 million available workers were without jobs.
The unemployment rate for the neighboring counties surveyed from April to May are listed with their county seat in parentheses: i.e., Clark County (Arkadelphia):
Dallas County (Fordyce) reported 4.3% of its 2,842 available workers were without jobs, compared to 4.1% in April.
Hot Spring County (Malvern) reported 4.1% of its 13,362 available workers were without jobs, compared to 3.8% in April.
Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) reported 4.3% of its 3,251 available workers were without jobs, compared to 4.4% in April.
Pike County (Murfreesboro) reported 4.1% of its 4,265 available workers were without jobs, compared to 3.6% in April.
Nevada County (Prescott) reported 4.1% of its 2,671 available workers were without jobs, compared to 5.1% in April.
Ouachita County (Camden) reported 4.4% of its 9,251 available workers were without jobs, compared to 4.1% in April.
