From the Arkadelphia Area Chamber of Commerce
The Arkadelphia Regional Economic Development Alliance and Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the finalists for the 2026 Arkadelphia Regional Civics Bee. The live competition will take place this Thursday, April 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Macbeth Recital Hall in the Mabee Fine Arts Center on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University.
The National Civics Bee®, an initiative of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, encourages middle school students to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. This year’s regional finalists were selected based on essays they submitted earlier this year, which outlined innovative ideas to improve their local communities using civic principles.
Representing Goza Middle School are finalists: Levi Barras, Stephanie Burroughs, Madison Campbell, Cash Chandler, William Clark, Logan Hamilton, Kallie Harral, Sidney Sidney-Newey, Jared Rodriguez, Braxton Stephens, Martin Stover, and Landon Wells.
Additional regional finalists include: Anna Bullock (Garrett Memorial Christian School), Caleb Wright (Lakeside Junior High), and Yaqoob Younus (LISA Academy West Middle School).
Finalists will compete in a live quiz-style competition testing their knowledge of American democracy and the founding principles of the United States. Winners of the regional competition will receive cash prizes, including $500 for first place, and will advance to the Arkansas State Civics Bee held in June. The state champion will earn a trip to Washington, D.C., to compete in the National Championship for a chance to win a $100,000 529 education savings plan.
The Arkadelphia Regional Civics Bee is made possible through the generous support of local sponsors, including the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the City of Arkadelphia, and Walmart.
The public is invited to attend and cheer on these future leaders. Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP at bit.ly/rsvparkabee.
