Vehicle accidents in South Arkansas have claimed the lives of three people in recent days.
Two people from Leola perished Thursday, Feb. 26, in a one-vehicle crash in Sheridan (Grant County). A preliminary fatal crash summary posted by Arkansas State Police says that Shannon Shane Stone, 51, was driving southbound in a 2005 Chevy Impala on Arkansas Highway 46 when she left the roadway and struck a tree, then struck a concrete culvert retaining wall.
Stone and her passenger, Lisa Kay Handley, 49, were killed in the crash.
State Trooper John Crow noted the time of the accident as 2:52 p.m. on dry roads and under clear skies.
On Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, a Hot Springs woman died in a single-vehicle accident. According to a preliminary fatal crash summary, 45-year-old Christina Rene Fennewald was traveling westbound on Shady Heights Road in a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder when she veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole, then a tree.
Fennewald died. Her passenger, Delton Keith Wilson, 34, of Royal, was transported to UAMS hospital for injuries.
Investigating officer Cpl. John Albright of the Hot Springs Police Department noted clear weather and dry roads at the time of the accident, 7:48 p.m.
