ATTIC BLAZE: A Bismarck volunteer firefighter begins work Wednesday morning to suppress a fire that ultimately claimed a residence on Arkansas Highway 7. | Bismarck Fire Protection Association’s Facebook page
Firefighters from several agencies converged Wednesday morning at a residential fire at the 3000 block of Arkansas Highway 7, south of Bismarck in Hot Spring County.
The fire broke out sometime around 10:30 a.m. Sept. 24, 2025.
The sole female occupant was able to escape the burning home, without injury, prior to firefighters’ arrival.
A stockpile of ammunition inside the house created one concern as firefighters first began arriving on scene. “Some of the bullets exploded when they first got there,” Bismarck Fire Chief Duke Evans said. Fortunately, the explosions soon came to a halt, allowing firemen to continue fire suppression, Evans said.
Firefighters from Bismarck, Caddo Valley, New DeRoche, Ouachita and Point Cedar responded to the blaze, which appeared to have started in the attic and left the home in ruins. Firefighters were on scene through early afternoon.
