In recognition of the 70th anniversary of Constitution Week, local members and guests of the Arkadelphia Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution gathered on the lawn of the Clark County Courthouse to ring hand bells on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, commemorating the signing of the United States Constitution in 1787 by delegates of the Constitutional Convention.

Daughters of the National Society have been publicly celebrating and promoting the Constitution since a proclamation was issued by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1955. Constitution Week has also been designated annually as September 17-23.

Besides the annual bell ringing celebration, the Arkadelphia DAR Chapter distributes U.S. Constitution educational pamphlets to students at Goza Middle School.

The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism across the United States. NSDAR has a membership of 190,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the world. Daughters are active women interested in community service as well as honoring their American Revolutionary War ancestors and supporting all U.S. veterans.

For more information about joining the Arkadelphia DAR Chapter, Terry Hagood serves as the Chapter Regent.

The local DAR Chapter will be celebrating its 110th anniversary in June of 2026.
