The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Tuesday, July 29
A convenience store owner reported multiple payroll checks had been copied and attempted to be cashed. No money had been lost at the time the report was filed, and no suspects had been identified.
Wednesday, July 30
Felony incident still under investigation: Domestic battery-2nd degree, 1000 block of Pine Street
10 a.m.
A woman reported the theft of furniture from a storage unit on Country Club Drive, suspecting relatives were responsible for the thefts. She said she stored the furniture before moving from Arkadelphia and left the unit in the care of family members, but when she returned to Arkadelphia she learned the items had been removed and were being used in the homes of various relatives. Confronted about the thefts, the kinfolk wouldn’t return the furniture, she said. She was advised that a report would be on file.
8:32 p.m.
Theft of a push lawnmower was reported at the 1500 block of Center Street. The resident said the theft had occurred in the past couple of days, and described the property as a red Murray mower.
8:41 p.m.
A Cypress Road woman reported a neighbor threatened to kill her and her dog while she was walking the canine past his residence. The responding officer instructed her not to walk by the man’s apartment and was advised of warrant procedures. The officer spoke with the suspect and told him to call police should the female return with her dog.
9:10 p.m.
An Evonshire Drive man reported an elderly neighbor with dementia was wandering the neighborhood. He told police that the woman had been returned home from a Texarkana facility after an involuntary commitment, and that he witnessed representatives of that facility drop her off at the driveway and leave before she made it indoors. He said he confronted the representatives, who informed that the neighbor had refused medical treatment and thus they returned her home. An officer made contact with the neighbor, who exhibited signs of dementia, and called for an ambulance; paramedics consulted with a doctor and were instructed to transport the lady to the hospital. Police called Adult Protective Services to generate a report there.

Friday, Aug. 1
12:16 a.m.
Officers were summoned to a residence at the 1800 block of Caddo Street for an active domestic disturbance. Police arrived and learned from two females that a male suspect had left the property in an SUV. One of the females said the man bit her, showing officers bite marks to her bicep and thigh. The other female said she received an abrasion to her forearm when she intervened. Neither could provide information about the suspect’s present whereabouts. They were advised a report would be generated and forwarded to the prosecutor’s victim coordinator for a followup investigation.

Thursday, July 31
8 p.m.
A deputy was called to the 3900 block of US Highway 67 South, Gurdon, where a woman reported her mother was trying to take her infant daughter. The complainant said she had gone to pay someone for marijuana she got earlier in the week, and her mom tracked her location using Life360 and began following her, ultimately convening at her residence, the present location, and where a verbal altercation ensued. The younger mother said she didn’t take the child into the drug house. A statement from the older mother corroborated what the younger had said, but denied trying to physically take the child. All parties agreed to separate for the evening.
