Former Arkadelphian tapped as first female chair of NC airport authority

Tammie Hall-Roberts, an Arkadelphia native and 1983 Arkadelphia High School graduate, was elected recently to chair the Raleigh-Durham International Airport Authority. In 2021 Hall-Roberts was appointed to the authority, a board comprised of eight directors representing the North Carolina cities of Durham and Raleigh and the counties of Durham and Wake.

“Serving the community has always been my passion,” said Hall-Roberts, a double HBCU graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and North Carolina Central University. She is the daughter of the late Anderson Thomas Sr. and Maggie Thomas.

As chair, Hall-Roberts is tasked with vital leadership and administrative responsibilities. She will preside over board meetings, serve as the chief representative, guide discussions and ensure effective operation from the board. She will also be responsible for establishing committees and appointing members to fill those committees.
