Juvenile report: Harassment

Thursday, May 29
5:22 p.m.-9:44 p.m.
Officers were called multiple times to Elliston Place Apartments, 222 N. 20th St., because some residents weren’t getting along. It was learned that the confrontation was over children playing with Orby toy guns that shoot gel pellets, and that the participants were shooting at other children not equipped or actively participating. A confrontation between parents grew escalated to name-calling and threats. At 9 p.m. police were requested for a large altercation between parents in the parking lot. Officers learned that two parents had gotten into fisticuffs, an event that drew a reportedly sizable crowd to get involved in the short-lived altercation. In speaking with witnesses, officers had difficulty piecing together a factual timeline, and told everyone involved to retreat to their side of the complex. By 9:45 lawmen were called again to the apartments for another parking lot fight, this time witnessing one male subject running behind a small crowd with a baseball bat, yelling and swearing. An officer located one individual on his back at a pavilion, where the bat-wielding man had kneeled beside him and requested an ambulance. Due to both men’s intoxication, neither could provide a coherent recollection of what had transpired. Both men were transported by ambulance to Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia for treatment to injuries suffered in the matches. No arrest was made.

11:49 a.m.
Near Pine and Caddo streets, an officer observed a white SUV displaying a temporary tag that had expired in April. A traffic stop was made in the Atwoods parking lot, and upon talking with the driver, Brian Keith Olivarez, 60, of Dalark, the officer got a whiff of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Asked if he had marijuana, Olivarez admitted to a pair of 3.5-gram bags in the console.
