The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Monday, March 3
3:45 p.m.
An officer took a delayed report of an assault in which a female said a known male, aware of her food allergy, had deliberately bear-hugged her after consuming peanut butter. She was advised of warrant procedures and how to obtain a no-contact order.
8:13 p.m.
Police were summoned to Lark Place, where an Alexander woman, visiting an old friend, had been kicked out of his apartment after he attempted to steal her truck, damaging the steering column and breaking the windshield in the process. She was given a courtesy transport back home.

Felony incident still under investigation: Cruelty to animals, 200 block of Clay Street
12:23 p.m.
A college student from El Dorado reported losing her pink leather wallet at Walmart the previous evening.
11:23 p.m.
An officer patrolling at 14th and Walnut streets conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle at 12th and Center streets. Smelling intoxicants and getting an admission that the driver had consumed alcohol, Andrea Harper, 56, of Arkadelphia, was asked to exit the vehicle for a series of sobriety tests, each of which she failed. Harper was arrested and transported to the county jail for DWI-2, careless and prohibited driving and driving with a suspended license.

5:29 p.m.
Officers were called to the 1500 block of Logan Street, where a woman reported the theft of a galvanized Atwood’s trough, adding the theft happened the previous evening and that a neighbor saw the suspect vehicle. An officer spoke with the neighbor, who said a she saw someone loading the trough into a white Jeep/SUV.

Saturday, March 8
11:40 p.m.
An officer took a delayed report of lost property on DeSoto Bluff Trail. A man said that on the morning of March 6 he and a friend were talking the trail when he fell into a bush and lost a pair of silver diamond earrings he valued at $9,500, which he said he purchased from Jewelry Mutual in Tennessee. He said he searched the area but was unable to locate the missing earrings. He was unable to provide any proof of the event or any receipts of the earrings, and said he need a report generated for insurance purposes.
Sunday, March 9
11:03 a.m.
An officer collected a wallet a cleaner had recovered from a closet in a burned duplex at Ashbury Court. The wallet contained a birth certificate, Social Security card and multiple other cards. It was placed in the police department’s lost and found.
1:42 p.m.
An officer took a delayed report of a hit-and-run parking lot accident that happened at Walmart’s parking lot.
Juvenile report: Third-degree domestic battery
5:24 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to a Leewood Drive residence for a welfare check on a female, and arrived to find the doors locked and the resident’s vehicle parked outside. Neighbors reported they hadn’t seen the resident in several days. With permission from a relative to force entry, firefighters entered the residence, allowing officers to discover the body of 70-year-old Mary Rosa Dumond, a retired Arkadelphia school teacher, in a bedroom. The coroner and a police investigator were summoned to the scene. With no criminal activity suspected, police contacted the next of kin for death notification.

Noon
Deputies were dispatched to the Highway 7 Recreation Area at DeGray Lake for a report of an attempted suicide. The subject was transported to Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia for treatment.
