Dispatch Desk: Sept. 30-Oct. 6

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Arkadelphia Police Department

Monday, Sept. 30
7:41 p.m.
A Gurdon woman told an officer she was attacked by a known, named individual at Carpenter Hill Apartments, where she had been summoned by another individual for a visit. The victim said the suspect approached her from behind and struck her in the face/neck area. The officer observed no signs of injury, and advised her that a report would be on file.

Tuesday, Oct. 1
1:49 a.m.
Aerik Anthony Jacobs, 25, of Arkadelphia, was cited at Professional Park Drive near its junction with North 26th Street for possession of marijuana. The arresting officer began following Jacobs at Village Drive and Country Club Road after noticing the vehicle had no license plate. A search of the vehicle yielded 7.3 grams of marijuana in packages the officer believed to be labeled for medical use by other people. Jacobs was also cited for failing to register the vehicle and no liability insurance.

11:35 a.m.
An officer took a delayed report of a hit-and-run parking lot accident that happened at Walmart.

Police took a walk-in report of fraud. Additional details weren’t available because it was a felony incident.

Wednesday, Oct. 2

Police investigated a report of first-degree terroristic threatening at a South 6th Street location. Additional details are not known as felony incident reports are not available for public inspection at the Arkadelphia Police Department.

10:11 a.m.
An officer took a walk-in report from a resident whose Social Security checks had been discontinued because he reported an income of more than $90,000. His own investigation revealed that a known suspect had likely opened a fraudulent account using his Social Security number.

Thursday, Oct. 3
8:03 a.m.
A North 13th Street man reported the theft of a glass carboy from his front porch. The thief, seen by the complainant’s wife, fled the scene in a silver or gray Honda CRV with damage to the driver’s side front bumper. They suspected the thief would have taken a second carboy had their dog not began barking.

Police took a report of online fraud. The incident report contained no other details because of it was a felony investigation.

Friday, Oct. 4
11:45 a.m.
A 911 caller reported a possibly drunk person nearly fell in front of her vehicle at Pine Street near Family Dollar. An officer responded to the area and located Darrell Barnett, 61, of Arkadelphia, walking south on North 16th Street. The officer promptly determined that Barnett was intoxicated, and arrested him for public intoxication.

2:30 p.m.
A motorist traveling on Northridge Drive reported finding a Milwaukee rotary hammer in the roadway.

2:51 p.m.
Police, firefighters and an Entergy crew were summoned to 501 S. 10th St., where a semi truck had snagged electrical lines, causing damage to the residence. The driver said he was making a delivery to the Clark County Health Unit, and although he tried traversing the side of the street where the lines were higher, oncoming traffic forced him back into his lane. He was advised to use Walnut Street to make future deliveries.

5:33 p.m.
A woman reported that her elderly grandparent had possibly been a victim of abuse at a nursing home. The victim, at the hospital for unrelated reasons, complained to nurses of being slapped in the face by caregivers when having difficulties taking medication. The victim’s mental capacity wasn’t known. The complainant was advised to follow up with police once the victim was released from hospital care.

3:08 p.m.
A woman reported she was driving on Wilson Street when a baseball struck her passenger door. An officer spoke with a homeowner who said he and a relative were playing catch when the ball was accidentally thrown toward the street.

Monday, Sept. 30
10:28 p.m.

A deputy was summoned to 1214 Smithton Road (Gurdon) for a Union Pacific complaint of unoccupied vehicles being stuck on the railroad tracks. The deputy observed a Dodge Ram and a Kia Forte stuck in the gravel between the tracks. It appeared to the deputy that the Dodge driver had attempted to pull the Kia from the tracks. Train traffic was stopped until Beene’s Towing removed the vehicles. The deputy found a pair of driver’s licenses in the Kia.

Tuesday, Oct. 1
8:55 a.m.
A Fite Road (Manchester) woman reported her neighbor’s five dogs had attacked her dog. The deputy talked to the other owner and learned they had been relocated to Malvern.

Wednesday, Oct. 2
9:24 a.m.
A Goshen Road (DeGray) woman reported that her credit monitoring service alerted her to a pair of fraudulent charges totaling more than $1,300.
