LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — The Arkansas Department of Agriculture and the Arkansas Rural and Volunteer Firefighters Association (ARVFA) will host the 2024 Rural Fire Show on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Conway Expo and Event Center.
The Rural Fire Show is a free event held in appreciation for Arkansas firefighters and their families to honor the service and protection they provide throughout the state. The event will include training opportunities, equipment demonstrations, resources and information, networking opportunities, and a catered lunch with door prizes.
“Our partnership with rural fire departments is critical to fighting wildland fires throughout the state,” said State Forester Kyle Cunningham. “These firefighters are often the first line of defense in protecting our forests and communities. We are proud to host this annual event with the ARVFA to show our appreciation for them and their families.”
In addition to the Rural Fire Show, the Department’s Rural Fire Protection Program supports communities and rural fire departments across the state by providing training and equipment. In 2023, through various forestry programs, the Department provided training for 1,801 volunteer firefighters, helped facilitate $4.9 million in trucks and equipment to rural fire departments, and distributed more than 90 wildland fire suppression kits across the state.
All firefighters are welcome to participate. Interested individuals can RSVP by emailing Lisa Clark at lisa.k.clark@agriculture.arkansas.gov.
