Heading into the weekend, the environment will gradually heat up, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock. Dangerous heat is in the forecast early next week, especially Monday and Tuesday. Later next week, by Thursday, a cold front will push through from the north, and will bring some relief.
The good news is that any drought conditions that were in place last week are pretty much gone after the heavy rain from Tropical Cyclone Beryl. A few areas of abnormally dry conditions exist in the northern third of Arkansas, but overall conditions have improved significantly in just one week. However, little if any precipitation is in the forecast for the next seven days, so expect conditions to dry out once again.
The weekend forecast for the Arkadelphia area calls for mostly sunny skies Saturday with a heat index value as high as 101. A low of 73 is expected Saturday night.
There is a 20% chance Sunday for showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m. Otherwise, expect a repeat of Saturday.
The next real chance for precipitation comes Thursday with a 50% chance.
