
The City of Arkadelphia issued 27 building permits with an estimated construction value of $1.38 million for the months of May and June 2024. May saw 12 permits with a total value of $177,526, while 15 permits were filed in June with a total value of $1.2 million.
The year-to-date value of construction jobs in Arkadelphia now totals $7.61 million.
Records were obtained from the city’s Building Department under the Freedom of Information Act and include valuations of work except where omitted from reports. Here’s a rundown of permits issued in May 2024:
Arkadelphia Public Schools hired All Spec Roof Corp. for a TPO overlay on the gym roof at Arkadelphia High School. The district spent $70,065.80 on the job.
Clark County hired Tony Vo Construction to install a non-load-bearing 8-foot-by-10-foot partition at 414 Court St. The building houses the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office. The job cost $10,000.

Here’s a rundown of permits issued in June 2024:
Ouachita Baptist University filed permits for roughly $1 million worth of construction projects. Topping the list is a $700,000 job at the Harvey Jones Science Center. Scott Nelson Construction (Malvern) was contracted to enclose and add an additional 2,700 square feet of space to the nursing building. Nelson was also hired for an alteration at 223 N. 5th St. to demolish 1,521-SF of brick and sidewalk; that project is to the tune of $20,000.
Another six-digit job, contracted to Seale Construction (Arkadelphia), calls for moving the visitors-side bleachers at Cliff Harris Stadium closer to the football field. That project is costing the university $200,000.
OBU’s Mabee Fine Arts Center, 455 Campus Dr. is undergoing $77,150 worth of renovations, including the removal of existing walls, dropping a ceiling in unused office space, making a worship lab/classroom, rerouting HVAC ductwork, a new sub panel and opening a ceiling. No contractor is listed for the job.
Ouachita is also razing two single-family dwellings at an unlisted cost. One is a 2,990-SF home at 617 Hickory St., and the other is a 3,728-SF two-story home at 221 N. 6th St. McKenzie Farms was hired for those jobs. No cost estimate was listed in either permit.
Elsewhere in Arkadelphia, Measured Success LLC (Joe Poye, River Melugin) is set to build a 936-SF single-family dwelling at 1720 Clinton St. for an estimated price tag of $100,000.
Following a vehicle’s collision at Arby’s this spring, the company hired Shields & Associate to repair the exterior wood-framed wall and sheath with brick. Cost for that job was listed as $42,000.
With no contractor listed, The Southwest Arkansas Pregnancy Resource Center, located at 702 Carpenter St., filed for a permit to enclose a 24’x23’ garage and add a 9’x12’ storage building. Cost of the project was listed at $16,152.
The reverse-lit LED lettering signage and Badger sign at the new Peake Elementary School, installed by the Pine Bluff-based Condray Signs, cost the Arkadelphia Public School District $16,085.
