Solar eclipse peaks in Arkadelphia at 1:49 p.m.; latest forecast shows clear skies

The region of most favorable eclipse viewing is indicated by the green shading.

The latest data from the National Weather Service in Little Rock suggests that much of northern into central Arkansas (in the path of totality) will have a medium to high chance of favorable eclipse viewing conditions. Data continues to show a veil of high clouds even in the green shading.

Following the eclipse, clouds will rapidly increase and thicken, and the pattern will quickly become unsettled. Showers and thunderstorms will become widespread Monday night into Tuesday and Wednesday, with areas of heavy rain likely.

While the primary concern will be heavy rain, there could be isolated severe storms across the southern counties.
