Janet Watts

Janet Kay Watts, 62 of Kirby, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Monday, September 13, 2026. Janet was surrounded by family and friends that loved and will miss her dearly.  

Janet was born in Murfreesboro to the late Billie Jean Oneal and James Dearl Young on October 12,1963. To know Janet, you knew she was born in her favorite month. Also preceding her in death was her brother James Young Jr. She was also preceded in by her husband of 26 years, Heath Watts, but the event that shattered her heart was losing her son, Cody Hoover in 2009. If you knew Cody or even just Janet, you knew that Cody was an absolute Momma’s boy through and through. 

Janet is survived by her sweet daughter Aspen (Chase) Fitzhugh of Hensley. The stories they have to tell about Janet are hilarious and some unbelievable, but if you know Janet, you knew they were true to the core. She was nothing but elated about Chase and Aspen getting married. Janet said many times, “I could have looked this world over twice and never found a better person to marry my daughter”. That gave her unconditional relief, and she quickly claimed Chase as “her boy”.

She is also survived by her sister Retha (Bobby) Bogan of Murfreesboro, nephew, Robin, of Murfreesboro, her brother Billy Kuykendall of Pine Bluff, and her best friend and caregiver, Cameron Holmes.

Janet spent her time enjoying the simpler things in life: hunting, fishing, off-roading in her Jeep, taking her loyal pups, Rip and Harley, to the lake. She also LOVED concerts, she had seen over 52 artists in her lifetime, ranging from Garth Brooks, Shine Down, Jelly Roll and Post Malone. Janet had a great time wherever she went; one thing you would always know is where you stood with Janet or how she felt about a particular thing. She would say what everyone was thinking and had no regrets. Janet was the undisputed definition of a “little firecracker”; her vibrant and big personality will be missed by so many.

I am most proud to share that within her final weeks, we had several conversations about her relationship with Jesus. She had questions, we answered them and she decided she wanted to make it official that she was now a Child of God. For those of us that are Christians as well, we can rejoice in knowing that we will see her again one day!

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Highway 301 South, Delight, AR.
