Karen Ann Newton, age 77, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. She was born August 17, 1946, in Pine Bluff, AR, the daughter of the late William Brown and Iris Walters Newton.
Karen graduated from Pine Bluff High School and Henderson State University. She worked in classifieds at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Karen was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Arkadelphia where she was the church organist and pianist. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano at church, gardening, shopping and working in her yard.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Thomas “Tom” Newton.
Survivors are several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be planned at the Newton Chapel Family Cemetery near Star City at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Arkadelphia.
