A Hope motorcyclist died Thursday when another motorist reportedly turned in front of him.
According to an Arkansas State Police fatal crash summary, a Yamaha motorcycle was traveling north on the Highway 29 bypass in Hope when a southbound Chevrolet 1500 pickup turned east onto Highway 278, turning in front of the motorcycle, which struck the front of the pickup.
Lijiah G. Smith, 44, of Hope, was killed in the accident. His body was taken to the Hempstead County Morgue. The report does not name the driver of the other vehicle or list any injuries associated with the collision.
The accident happened at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023. Investigating Trooper Brock Neathery noted clear skies and dry road conditions at the time of the accident.

i dont know how many times i have seen people on a motorcycle without a helmet on. i thought a state law was passed while back that says u are suppose to have one on?? i feel sorry for ignorant people that dont wear one.
