Felony Friday: CNA accused of abusing mentally impaired client

This is a roundup of felony charges filed Sept. 4-18, 2026, by the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office. Some defendants may also have misdemeanor charges against them, but most are not included here. The following names and charges, which are contained within public documents, are gathered from online court records available through ARCourts. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Here’s a rundown of felony cases filed in the past two weeks:

CNA accused of abusing AHDC client

A former CNA at the Arkadelphia Human Development Center is accused of physically abusing a resident.

After receiving information about a report of abuse of a mentally impaired person at the Caddo Valley facility, a special agent with the Arkansas Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit reviewed video footage of the incident, which dates to Dec. 17, 2025.

In the video, Gregory Clayborn, a certified nursing assistant, is seen intervening in “maladaptive behavior” of a seated resident. Clayborn allegedly slapped the individual, used his own weight to pin the resident against a chair, and pulled him to the floor with the aid of another CNA who is named in the case file but has not been charged. The video then shows Clayborn dragging the resident by his arms across the floor. Both CNAs are then seen carrying the resident by his arms and legs into a residential hallway.

Both CNAs were terminated when facility management substantiated the allegations. An affidavit notes that Clayborn completed training specific to working with intellectually impaired individuals before the incident.

Clayborn agreed to an interview with the AG’s special agent, but did not show up for the scheduled appointment and, despite continued efforts to make contact, did not return the agent’s phone calls.

A warrant has been issued for Clayborn’s arrest.

He is charged with Abuse of a Vulnerable Adult, a Class D felony.

Welfare check on child living in drug house leads to arrest of 2

In the Mt. Zion community west of Arkadelphia, drug task force agents on July 27 accompanied Department of Human Services caseworkers to a residence after hearing complaints that a child was living at a home where drug activity was suspected.

With a search waiver on file for the residence, the agents made contact with both adults of the home, Faith Addison Bunn Hopkins, 23, and Simon Hernandez, 26, and were directed to a bathroom cabinet holding 1.6 grams of methamphetamine. Other paraphernalia was also located. Police observed “multiple items” of drug paraphernalia and a firearm in plain view that a child “could have easily grabbed.”

According to the affidavit, Hernandez ignored officers when he was told he was going to jail, interacting instead with his cell phone. He was told thrice to put the phone away before a struggle over the device led to a brief scuffle. Hernandez was tasered as a result, then arrested and transported to the county jail. Hopkins surrendered peacefully.

At the jail, Hernandez provided a statement saying the narcotics didn’t belong to him. Hopkins admitted the drugs belonged to both of them. 

Hernandez is charged with Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance and 1st-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, both Class D felonies. Hernandez was also charged with misdemeanor Resisting Arrest. As reported earlier, Hopkins faces the lone charge of Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, a Class D felony.

Bond for both suspects was set at $10,000 during a first court appearance on July 29.
