A Hempstead County man died early Wednesday morning on Interstate 30 in a collision with a semi-truck.
According to a fatal crash summary filed by Arkansas State Police, a 2021 Toyota Prius stopped in the outside eastbound traffic lane at the 96 mile marker, just before the first Malvern exit, when a 2016 Freightliner rear-ended the Prius, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway.
A passenger in the Prius, 21-year-old Terrance Allen, of Hope, was killed in the accident. According to the report, Corey Lewis, 21, the driver and also of Hope, was transported to CHI St. Vincent hospital in Hot Springs, where he was treated for unknown injuries. Allen’s body was transported to the Hot Spring County Coroner’s Office.
The accident happened at 4:01 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, under clear skies and on dry roads, according to investigating Trooper Jackson Daniell.
