Residents curious about becoming less dependent on commercialism and more reliant on themselves are invited to attend a fall workshop in October.

The Self-Sufficient U Fall Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29, from 1-4 p.m. at the Clark County Fairgrounds and will include four sessions.

The 1 p.m. session will feature an introduction to Dutch Oven Cooking, led by Cindy Ham.

Following that, at 1:30 p.m., will be the Vermicomposting (worm composting) course led by Amy Simpson.

At 2 p.m. Dr. Vic Ford, associate vice president of agriculture and natural resources at UAD, will lead a session on Growing Your Own Mushrooms.

The final session, beginning at 3 p.m., will be on Do-It-Yourself Apple Cider Vinegar, led by JoAnn Vann.

Registration is $10 per person for supplies and space is not limited.

  1. I realize there are several people writing articles. But PLEASE, tell us where and when events will occur. For example, I would like to attend the fall workshop, but I have no idea where it will be, what time it starts, etc.
