City employees were given a 2% raise in the annual Arkadelphia Board of Directors retreat.

Aug. 31, 2012
The first case of the West Nile Virus was confirmed in Clark County, with a total of 25 cases statewide.

Remnants of Hurricane Isaac rolled through the area, knocking down trees across the county with its heavy winds.

Local realtors reported home sales were unaffected despite a national slump. In fact, one realtor told the newspaper his agency had seen a 6% increase in home purchases.

Henderson State University was named “Best College” in its category by U.S. News & World Report, based on its academic reputation, graduation and retention rates, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni support.

The City of Arkadelphia was the recipient of an $8,000 matching grant from the state Department of Transportation to repave Feaster Trail from 15th to 26th streets, the original section of the trail.

Aug. 30, 2002
Henderson tightened its admission standards, requiring incoming freshmen to score at least a 19 on the ACT, be in the upper half of their graduating class, and have taken college preparatory classes in high school.

Sept. 3, 2002
At least half a dozen construction and renovations were scheduled for facilities at Henderson, including Arkansas and Mooney halls.
