A bill that would open the door to criminal liability for the distribution of “obscene” content by school and public libraries passed the Arkansas Senate on a party-line vote Wednesday and will next be considered by the House.
Arkansas is changing the eligibility requirements for people who are enrolled in ARHOME, a category of the Medicaid program.
Classified employees are school employees who don’t require teaching licenses, like administrative assistants, bus drivers and janitors.
House Bill 1127 would create a “rural emergency hospital” designation that would attract more federal funds to rural Arkansas hospitals if they reduce or eliminate inpatient services and focus on emergency and outpatient treatment.

A legislative committee Tuesday morning passed a bill to end state affirmative action, but most of the public was left in the dark on the proposal’s language because it wasn’t made publicly available until after the panel voted and adjourned.
Senate Bill 60 would outlaw the use of “panic” regarding a victim’s sex, gender or sexual orientation as justification for violence against them. The “panic defense” has been banned in 13 states as of 2022.
